Fragile Items Policy and Liability Disclaimer

At Student Storage, we prioritize the safe storage of your belongings, but certain items require extra care and handling due to their fragile nature. By using our services, you acknowledge and agree to the terms below, which limit our liability for damages to fragile items.

Eligibility and Coverage

Our Insurance Policy covers damages at a rate of $0.60 CAD per pound, up to a maximum of $100 CAD per item, with a total cap of $500 CAD. Please note that Fragile Items are not eligible for coverage under this policy. Student Storage assumes no liability for any damage or derangement of Fragile Items, including but not limited to items susceptible to internal or external damage.

Fragile Items Definition

Certain items are considered "Fragile Items" due to their susceptibility to damage. Below is a non-exhaustive list of items that are classified as Fragile Items:

Glassware, Dishes, Ceramics, and Pottery

Includes items like glasses, plates, vases, artwork, mirrors, ornaments, antiques, and crystal.

Electronics

All electronics, including TVs, computers, tablets, phones, printers, hard drives, and audio/visual equipment.

Internal Derangement Items

Items like musical instruments, appliances, and mechanical devices that may suffer internal damage.

Storage Requirements for Fragile Items

We recommend that you avoid storing fragile items with Student Storage. If you choose to store such items, please ensure they are packed securely using appropriate padding such as bubble wrap, foam, and packing paper to prevent damage during transport and storage. Any space in boxes should be filled to prevent movement.

Fragile Items Waiver

You must explicitly agree to waive all liability for damages when storing Fragile Items. This waiver must be signed prior to the storage of any fragile items. If you store fragile items without signing this waiver, you accept the limited liability outlined in this policy.

Valuable Items Policy

Valuable Documents

We strongly recommend that you do not store valuable documents, including personal identification, financial documents, legal papers, and items that could be used for identity theft. If you choose to store such documents, you waive all claims against Student Storage for any loss, theft, or damage.

Items of Exceptional Value

Any item with a replacement value greater than $100 CAD, or that cannot be replaced, is considered an Item of Exceptional Value. Examples include fine art, antiques, rare collectibles, jewelry, and sentimental items. We do not recommend storing these items. If you choose to do so, you accept the risks involved and waive any liability claims against Student Storage.

Digital Files

We are not responsible for the loss, corruption, or damage of digital files stored on hard drives, flash drives, or any other digital media. It is strongly recommended that you create backups of all digital files before storage.

Limitation of Liability

By using Student Storage services, you accept the terms of this Fragile Item Policy and the associated Fragile Item Waiver. We are not liable for damage or loss of Fragile Items, Items of Exceptional Value, or Valuable Documents, except to the extent provided by our general insurance policy, and subject to the coverage limits stated above.

Final Acknowledgment

If you choose to store fragile items, you do so at your own risk, fully understanding and accepting the limitations of our liability for such items.
